Although The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced several years ago and Bethesda has kept solid information about the fantasy role-playing game under wraps, a new post from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has fueled speculation.
In a social media post, Sharma enthusiastically shared an inside look at the game, praising its scale and story. However, one small wording caused a stir: Sharma wrote “The Elder Scrolls VI: ********”, thus revealing that the official subtitle consists of exactly eight letters.
It didn’t take long for the community to start looking for clues. The name “Sentinel” has emerged as the most promising candidate among the eight-letter names. In the lore of the series, the Sentinels are one of the nine kingdoms in Hammerfell and the name of the coastal city in the middle of the region, which has been rumored and speculated to be the setting for the sixth installment for years. Even former Bethesda developers like Michael Kirkbride said the name was a strong possibility.
Another detail fans are hoping to discover in space RPG Starfield also underlines this theory: when creating a character, there is an identification number on the screen (190514-2009140512). If you divide these numbers into two groups and translate them according to their position in the alphabet, you get the exact sequence of letters SENTINEL. Since Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 were sometimes developed in parallel, many players believed this Easter egg was a deliberately placed hint.
