The success of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 shows that wide-screen foldable smartphones can be very popular – Apple is expected to release its first foldable iPhone with the same form factor soon. Now you can add another brand to this list – Xiaomi.

Xiaomi showed off a wide-screen foldable smartphone when it released the Hyper OS 4 beta version. It’s hard to tell whether the Chinese manufacturer did this intentionally or not, but the appearance of such an illustration could be considered convincing evidence that a similar device from Xiaomi is already on the way. It has wide bezels around the main display and a cutout in the top right corner for the front-facing camera.
According to Chinese insiders Digital Chat Station, Apple and Xiaomi intend to position their wide-screen foldable models as high-end products, while Samsung and Huawei see them as more affordable alternatives to traditional extended models. The Galaxy Z Fold8 accounts for 70% of pre-orders for Samsung’s new generation of foldable smartphones, with the entire family breaking the Galaxy Note 10’s long-standing record in the Korean manufacturer’s lineup.
The upcoming foldable Apple iPhone Ultra could pose a major threat to the health of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, and Xiaomi’s presence in this area won’t make the Korean manufacturer’s task any easier. It’s reasonable to assume that other brands will soon start producing wide-folding smartphones.
