Rebs Gaming, a well-known insider who regularly shares information about the Halo series, recently reported that Halo Studios does not, in fact, have a game in the series currently in development. He noted that in the case of Halo Campaign Evolved, the studio itself had minimal involvement in development, with other projects in development in the series ultimately being cancelled.

He noted that about 15 studios are involved in the development of Campaign Evolved, including Arrival, FX Chamber, Devoted, Digic, Keyword Studios, Skybox Labs, Sprung Studios, Virtuos, Ninja Theory, Turn 10 Studios and Rare.
Virtuos Studios has made the most significant contribution to the creation of Halo Evolved, with the studio being almost entirely responsible for the world’s visual content, including environments, characters, vehicles, and weapons. According to Rebs Gaming, third-party studios are also working on the canceled Project Ekur, which was supposed to be the next multiplayer Halo project.
At the same time, Microsoft can not only involve third-party teams in the development of “Halo”, but also its own studios with experience in shooting games. Rebs Gaming reports that in June, Sledgehammer Games (the studio behind the Call of Duty game) created a basic prototype for Halo with simple movement mechanics. This doesn’t mean the studio has received the go-ahead for the next Halo, but Microsoft is considering bringing in Activision’s team as an option for the series.

Rebs Gaming believes that the next game in the series will be actively created with the participation of third-party teams, as Microsoft hopes to bring large series games “online” so that players do not have to wait 5-7 years each time for a new Halo release.
