Streaming service Max has officially renewed “Stewart Can’t Save the Universe” for a second season even before the premiere episode ends. The project tells the story of comic book store owner Stuart Leopold (played by Kevin Sussman), the protagonist of an unexpected sci-fi action set in the multiverse.
The show has a 77% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has high ratings. Warner Bros. Television and HBO took note of the bold stylistic shift from the project’s creators, Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Brady, who moved away from the classic sitcom format and toward a larger-than-life adventure.
A premiere date for the show’s second season has not yet been announced, but new episodes of the first season will be released on the Max platform every Thursday.
