The developers of Stoneguard have responded to player requests and added Endless Mode – a new mode for players who want to test their limits. Missions now don’t end after completing the standard campaign, as you’ll need to defend your base from ever-increasing waves of enemies for longer.
In Endless Mode, opponents appear according to a random system with gradually increasing points that determine the composition and complexity of attacks. The rhythm of threats is based on the six-day cycle of bosses in the main game. Every night, enemies become stronger and more diverse, so a perfect defense isn’t enough to last long – you have to change tactics, allocate resources, and rebuild your defenses.
In the later stages, enemies will begin attacking in waves at intervals of about a minute. Repeling the first attack isn’t enough: in between attacks, you have to quickly repair damage, reposition defenders and prepare for the next attack. Furthermore, the next wave may arrive sooner than we hope.
You can start endless mode immediately when creating a new game. Those who complete the normal campaign first will be able to enter Endless Mode after night 12. Once converted, saves will forever be in Endless Mode and cannot be used to complete future major update content.
This update is the first step in the “flexible” roadmap the developers have previously talked about. What are your thoughts on Endless Defense in the game? This is an interesting model, or an attempt by developers to create “new” content with minimal effort.
