At the D23 panel, Lucasfilm announced the release date for the second season of the animated series Star Wars. Darth Maul: Lord of Shadows head writer and executive producer Matt Michnovec has confirmed that the sequel will premiere in 2027 as part of the iconic series’ 50th anniversary celebrations.
The first season, which follows Maul (Sam Witwer) as he works to rebuild a criminal network and exact revenge on Darth Sidious during the early days of the Galactic Empire, was renewed ahead of its premiere.
In season 2, the creators promise to develop a storyline involving seizing control of the group red dawnyoung Devin Izala is tempted by the dark side of the Force, and the fate of Captain Brand Lawson who remains on the planet Yanix is revealed. An exact release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to premiere in the second half of 2027.
