Sonic the Hedgehog’s anniversary continues in Fortnite. The developer showed off a short video of Sonic and Thunderbolt, hinting that a separate themed area is coming to the battle royale game.
The new location is supposed to be part of Fortress Heroes Chapter 7 Season 4 “Override” and will appear in the game on August 20, 2026. In the released footage, the space Sonic explores seems familiar to him for some reason. The beginning of the film is the logo of the Imagined Order, a famous organization in the history of “Fortress Heroes”, and the end directly connects the content shown with the new season.
So far, the developers haven’t revealed details about the future collaboration, nor explained what role Sonic himself will play in it. Judging from the video, we’re not just talking about a cosmetic product, but a full-fledged themed area. Beyond the Season itself promises to “break the rules” and change the regular course of the game.
The collaboration will be part of a larger event celebrating the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. Previously, Sonic team leaders have hinted that new surprises should be expected in order to celebrate the anniversary. It looks like one of them is now officially around the corner – right here in Fortnite.
