The defendants in the lawsuit filed on August 19 are Apple, Apple Distribution International Ltd. and Apple Rus LLC, the iPhone maker’s Russian legal entity. “Apple unilaterally removed the VK app from the App Store without warning. In the lawsuit, VK demands that Apple return the company’s apps to the App Store, restore users’ ability to receive app notifications, and collect fines if it does not comply with the court’s decision.”says the VK press service.
In early June, Apple removed the apps of the national communications software “Max” that was then part of VK from the App Store, and in the second half of the month it mass-cleared other apps of Russian holding companies on the platform. VK stressed that the American company did this without any warning. Apple explained its actions in terms of its desire to comply with the sanctions, even though they were proposed later. Later, the Max and VK apps disappeared from the Google Play Store.
