Diablo Creator Memories: David Breivik talks about his favorite games on his Steam account

Legendary game designer and co-creator of the iconic Diablo, David Breivik, took a look at his Steam library in a recent interview and shared his personal gaming habits, long-time favorites, and projects he’s spent hundreds of hours on.

Despite his busy schedule as president of Skystone Games, Breivik still enjoys playing games of all types. Here are his daily highlights from the game:

  • Marvel heroes. After the official server was closed, Breivik joined the fan community and returned to the superhero action ARPG on the fan server, logging a total of 540 hours of game time. The character he most often plays is “The Stone Man”.
  • A deserted sky. Hello Games’ space sandbox has kept developers busy for over 400 hours, with Breivik returning to the game after every major update to explore the galaxy and build a base.
  • Minecraft. Designers regularly gather with family and friends on custom servers. According to him, he is responsible for creating large-scale automation mechanisms.
  • Endless tasks. Breivik spent many years with his wife in this classic MMORPG. He still has the game installed on his computer, and he logs into the old retro server regularly.
  • Visual Studio. The main work program on the developer’s PC. Breivik admitted that he writes code and creates prototypes of new games every day, hoping to one day return to full-time development.
I still have EverQuest installed and go back to play it from time to time. And I played it for hours. Of all the games, this is by far the longest running game (even though it’s not part of the Steam library) and the one I’m most invested in. Maybe this or World of Warcraft. But I dedicated many years of my life to both games, and my wife and I played them together, so we played them every day for years. I lost count of how long I played the game, but it was years and years of gaming. I have thousands of hours in EverQuest.

I’ve even played EQ ’99, which is an older version of the game, the original game plus maybe an expansion. Some [серверов] are two extensions. I’d better go back and play. Upgrade your character from time to time.

By the way, the old RPG Eye of the Beholder had the worst ending of any game Brevi has ever played. As for the Windows desktop, it’s a veritable mess, made up of more than 300 icons, project descriptions, Adobe graphics packs, and shortcuts to mobile games on your PC.

Which of these cult games has stayed on your PC the longest? Have you logged into the game for hundreds of hours?
