Worlds Unknown delivers its second extensive Early Access update to the successful game. On top of that, there’s news about a co-op mode.
After the huge success of the Early Access release of Submarine 2, developer Unknown Worlds continues to work on the game and has now released its second Early Access update. This brings new features and innovations to the co-op mode.
The cooperative play experience in particular is a focus of the new update, as it is expanded upon by the new system. New Proximity Voice Chat is the centerpiece of the patch, using distance-dependent spatial audio to communicate between players. Nearby teammates are louder and easier to find, while the sounds naturally become quieter as you move further away from each other.
There is also a new resurrection system. When a player’s health reaches zero, they enter a prone state instead of dying immediately. As long as his teammates are revived within a limited time, he can continue exploring. This move is intended to further increase the tension of deep-sea survival while strengthening cooperation.
Last but not least, there are further improvements in communication and teamwork. The emoticon system allows you to communicate with each other even without speaking. Now you can also directly access your teammates’ inventories to hand over resources. Further improvements have been made throughout co-op, including throwable location markers, a signaling system and easier base building.
