The legendary shooter Doom continues to conquer the most unexpected gear. The developer nicknamed lauris-nl has released a fully working port of this classic game for the Canon EOS 550D (Rebel T2i) SLR camera released in 2010. The project was launched thanks to the use of the open Magic Lantern firmware, which extends the basic functionality of Canon cameras and allows the execution of third-party code in the form of modules.
The combination of the DIGIC 4 processor and the camera’s 3-inch TFT screen is enough to make games run smoothly. These controls are fully adapted to the camera’s physical buttons. Furthermore, the author managed to make use of the unit’s built-in mono speakers to accompany the demon’s destruction with authentic sound effects and music. To run, you need an SD card with firmware, a special module and WAD file, but currently only the 550D version with firmware 1.0.9 is supported.
