Red Hook Studios has released Edge of Fire, the first story-based expansion for the original Darkest Dungeon since 2020. This release is timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the project and brings the sequel’s two heroines from the first installment: the Runaway, who uses a unique burning mechanic, and the Duelist, who can switch between fighting stances.
In addition to the character expanding the size of the roaster by two slots, the add-on also brings new artifacts with charging effects, three new buildings to the village (Duel Academy, Workshop, and Archaeological Camp) to the game, as well as fresh city activities.
The developer pointed out that the content is additional and will not destroy fan modifications. The author plans to launch an open test of the newly improved mod loader at the end of August.
