Paramount Pictures and SEGA have released the first trailer for the animated comedy series Golden Ax , based on the popular series of classic arcade action games. The project will premiere exclusively on the Paramount Plus streaming service on September 16, 2026, with all 10 episodes available to viewers simultaneously on release day.
The plot of the animated series revolves around the reunion of legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flair and Gilius Thunderhead. The heroes must once again stop the evil giant Death Adder threatening the world of Yuria. The usual trio is joined by inexperienced adventurer Hampton Squibb, which adds quite a bit of chaos and humor to the proceedings. The characters are voiced by Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy and Liam McIntyre.
The project is part of Sega’s Universe initiative, which aims to transfer the company’s classic intellectual property rights into movies and TV series. In the future, fans can look forward to film adaptations of other retro favorites, including angry streets, Tolerate and run out.
