The story of Image begins with the Lost Wanderer – an experienced commander who discovers a rusty sword among the ruins of an ancient battlefield. As soon as the blade cracks, the prisoner within the soul awakens, covering its owner in purple flames. The warrior attempts to cling to the cursed power through sheer willpower, suffering excruciating pain with every blow.

Overall, the undead will progress to the sixth level, known as the Lord of the Abyss. In the final phase, the hero stops resisting the entities within the weapon and accepts their power. Fire breaks through the armor, body and blade merge with two ancient souls, and the warrior himself becomes a creature capable of shattering everything in its path.
The developers cited classic images of cursed weapons from dark fantasy as their inspiration. The main idea of the costume, built around the confrontation between man and the entity contained in the sword, is gradually replaced by their complete fusion. Judging from the description, the choice here is simple: either the will is stronger than the curse, or the curse finally gains a new master.
