Square Enix is making the classic MMORPG Final Fantasy XI more accessible to new players. In a recent broadcast, project director Yoji Fujito said that the developer plans to completely remove the 14-day trial limit in September and increase the maximum character level from 50 to 75.
While the demo will still be limited to territories unexpanded by the original game and retain some strict restrictions (including a 100,000 gil limit, no access to the auction house, no trading, no private messaging), the removal of the time limit will allow players to explore the world of Vanadel at their own pace.
Fujito said the changes will be implemented in two phases: the level increase will be carried out in the planned September update, and the deactivation of the system subscription limit will be carried out later during technical work. Recent crossover events have also fueled interest in the game Vinadil’s Echo Bring back veterans from Final Fantasy XIV and the Summer Campaign.
