Apple has officially announced its next conference, which is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro series and the first foldable iPhone. The event, called “Surprise and Shine,” will take place on September 9 at 10:00 PT (20:00 Moscow time). The official invitation featured a glowing Apple logo with sunlight shining through it.

The event is expected to unveil three new iPhones: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable iPhone. The company won’t launch the base iPhone 18 this year. It, along with the iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2, are expected to launch in spring 2027.
According to rumors, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will retain the overall design and display size of their predecessors. The main changes will be related to display, cameras and communications. Expected innovations include variable aperture cameras, smaller dynamic islands, and the Apple C2 cellular modem. However, some sources attribute the variable aperture camera to the older iPhone 18 Pro Max. The new model is available in four colors: dark cherry, black, silver and light blue.
However, the main announcement at the event should be the first foldable iPhone. According to rumors, the device, which may be called iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, will be made in book form, with an external display measuring 5.3 to 5.5 inches and an internal screen measuring 7.6 to 7.8 inches. The device is expected to feature a titanium casing and be thin.
The foldable iPhone also features a Touch ID sensor built into the power button (instead of Face ID), two front-facing lenses, and two main cameras. Most likely, the foldable model will become Apple’s most expensive smartphone. Most estimates start at around $2,000, but some say individual configurations could cost as much as $2,500.
The event will also launch updated smartwatches Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Neither model is expected to receive a major redesign. Instead, Apple will focus on new processors and developing health monitoring features. The new Apple Watch SE model is expected to be released yet.
The new AirPods 5 headphones may also be displayed at the conference. AirPods Pro models that support visual intelligence are not expected to be launched until next year. Apple also recently announced new Mac mini and Mac Studio desktop computers, scheduled to be released on September 22.
September will also mark a new era of leadership at Apple. John Ternus will become CEO on September 1, and Tim Cook will become executive chairman. Therefore, the upcoming event will be Apple’s first major event under its new CEO.
Apple will broadcast the briefings on its website, YouTube channel and Apple TV app. As in previous years, much of the event is expected to be pre-recorded.
