
Overclocking NVIDIA Blackwell graphics cards has reached new levels thanks to a new update to a dedicated utility mVolt+ (version v0.36). The program provides enthusiasts with direct access to low-level power parameters not available in regular MSI Afterburner (and only partially available in paid Hydra), allowing them to independently configure the power limits of the video core (Core Power Limit) and memory, as well as control the voltages of the XBAR bus, system domain and video core. Thanks to these innovations, you can squeeze virtually all the power out of the graphics card without the user having to flash a special vBIOS – everything works without modification.

A user of a customized ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC card with a water block, after setting it through the software, recorded a power consumption of more than 680W in the FurMark stress test (according to the official extended BIOS, the base limit is 400W and the maximum is 450W). The chip’s clock frequency remains at 3390 MHz. Of course, graphics cards are also getting faster.

The flagship RTX 5090 running mVolt has a power of up to 700 W, a gaming video chip frequency of 3.15-3.20 GHz, and an XBAR bus frequency of 2.8 GHz, which allowed them to achieve a record-breaking 16,500 points in 3DMark Steel Nomad.
