The Gemini Enterprise for Legal plug-in includes integrations with legal software and data platforms, as well as a set of artificial intelligence agents to perform specialized legal and administrative tasks. Google says these agents will be able to perform specific legal and administrative functions with little or no human intervention, helping lawyers focus on more complex work.
The platform will be able to directly and securely connect legal services owned by Thomson Reuters Media Holdings and leading AI legal technology startups Harvey and Legora. Google also announced its partnership with law firms Weil Gotshal, Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields and Williams & Connolly to participate in the development of Gemini Enterprise for Legal.
In addition to the legal field, Google also announced the release of industry-specific tools for the financial services field and promised to launch systems for other industries in the future. As Reuters notes, Gemini Enterprise’s expansion comes amid growing competition in the enterprise artificial intelligence market. In particular, Anthropic and Thomson Reuters have both launched their own systems for the legal industry in recent months, with the latter a few days ago releasing a large open-source Thomson 1.0 language model trained with its own materials and intended for use in professional work.
A 2026 study by international consulting firm Deloitte shows that the legal services industry is currently in the early stages of digital transformation, but companies are already actively investing. Generative models not only aid in research and document writing, but also optimize client and case management. Amrita Mehrok, product director of Google Cloud, emphasized that the system provides free choice between various built-in modes.
Jonathon Soler, co-managing partner of Weil Gotshal, pointed out in an interview with the media that clients are increasingly expecting lawyers to use artificial intelligence and apply its capabilities to improve work efficiency.
