Over the weekend, the author of a fan publication about housing in The Lord of the Rings Online – medium decoration — An annual meeting with developers from the Standing Stone Games (SSG) studio was held to discuss the current state and future of real estate systems in MMOs. The conversation, which took place just a few months after the release of the Rivendell Elf VIP Zone, touched on a number of important topics, including the new neighbor mechanic that will be coming in the Wolf of Mordor fall expansion.
SSG representatives shared new details: The number of available neighbors will directly depend on the version of the add-on purchased – players will be able to get between two and four additional visitors.
In addition, the studio continues to work on integrating furniture system hooks and is exploring the possibility of turning windows into full-fledged wall decorations. The most interesting announcement is that the developers plan to introduce the concept of “apartment blocks” (apartments) into the game, although specific dates and locations have yet to be announced.
