Leading technology companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon, have joined hundreds of others in issuing an urgent warning: The digital world is on the verge of a wave of massive cyberattacks leveraging artificial intelligence.
The two companies said in a joint statement that as neural networks improve, the threat from attackers will only grow, and called on countries and companies to immediately use all resources to strengthen cyber defenses.
Tech leaders’ concerns are backed up by reality: large language models are increasingly being used to attack systems around the world, and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance has previously officially confirmed that the artificial intelligence revolution will forever change the cybersecurity landscape. The letter’s authors insist on accelerating trusted access initiatives for robust models and demand that digital security be placed at the forefront of leadership across all organizations.
