The die is cast at Gamescom: as part of Gamescom Studios powered by IGN, the coveted Gamescom awards will be awarded on Friday, August 28, 2026, in 19 categories. The biggest winners of the night were CD Projekt Red and publisher SEGA, who each took home three awards. Capcom and Ubisoft also cheered, while the special jury award for emotion went to the Games Done Quick charity event.
The biggest winner, both for the audience and the expert jury, was the show line-up of Geralt the Witcher: CD Projekt Red took home three awards for its performance with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past. Fans voted the remastered and DLC trailer shown at Opening Night Live the best trailer of the show. A gift pack of pins and medals available at the booth also won the Consumer Award for Best Merchandise. The expert jury also awarded the award for the best stand at a Polish trade fair.
Japanese publisher SEGA also received three precious metals. Developers at Creative Assembly impressed the judges with Alien: Isolation 2 (Best Audio) and strategy game Total War: Warhammer 40,000, which won Best PC Game. This success was rounded off by the award for Best Overall Series (“Best Lineup”).
Capcom and Ubisoft each won two awards. Capcom scored with promising action game Onimusha: Kendo, which won both the Best Game category and Sony PlayStation’s Best Game award. Ubisoft won the Best Game on Nintendo Switch 2 award for Rayman Legends Revisited and the Jury’s Choice Award for “Best Business Booth” for Ubisoft Business Lounge.
This year, the Special Jury Award “Heart of Games Award” was awarded to Games Done Quick (GDQ). The renowned speedrunning event, which has raised more than $50 million for charity in the past, will celebrate its European premiere live at gamescom from 28 to 30 August 2026. This time, all donations and sponsorship proceeds will be donated to the “Game for Democracy” initiative, which aims to strengthen democratic values and social commitment in digital game culture.
