Activision has launched a public beta test of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, allowing anyone to try the game on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and even Nintendo Switch 2, no pre-order required.
The test will last until September 1st, but it has been met with a lukewarm response from the community from the beginning: the user rating on Steam is still only 35%.
Players complained about technical issues (including the need to update the BIOS), too fast time to kill (TTK), aggressive matchmaking (SBMM), and imbalance in the game’s controller aim assist.
Amid criticism, the online peak during the open beta still failed to surpass last week’s record, remaining at 113,562 simultaneous online players.
