Microsoft plans to sell the movie rights to its iconic game series, including “World of Warcraft,” “Halo,” “The Elder Scrolls” and “Diablo.”
According to Parker, the Redmond giant intends to strike an exclusive deal with just one Hollywood partner — potential buyers including Paramount, Universal Pictures and Netflix — but has declined to split its intellectual property portfolio into pieces.
Meanwhile, negotiations are not going well: at least one major studio has already rejected the offer because the amount requested was too high. Microsoft itself has yet to comment on the news, but the move is in line with the company’s overall strategy considering already-released adaptations like Amazon’s Fallout series and Paramount’s upcoming Call of Duty movie.
