Gamescom 2026 was a disaster for indie developer Ryan Leili (Ryan Riley), who brought his survival horror imitator to Cologne. On the evening of August 28, attackers robbed his stall and stole all his laptops and expensive equipment. Similar thefts have affected a number of other stalls on the site.
The frustrated developer admitted on social networks that the exhibition was effectively over for him due to financial losses and loss of equipment. However, this story may have an unexpectedly happy ending: after the comments about Reilly’s video, gamers began to strongly support the project, adding it to their wishlist on Steam, and well-known industry insider Tom Henderson launched a campaign on social networks calling on hardware manufacturers to help the injured author.
