One week after going online, Mortal Shell II received his first Major updatesa patch that affects many aspects of the game, including new content, balance, exploration, combat, performance, and stability. The most important innovations include Brittle tar stonea new category of tower stone that loses durability with use and will crack once used up. When this happens, the player also receives a Tarcore. Also introduced are Glimpse Stones (which are consumed when killing enemies before transforming into Glimpse Stones) and Egon Stones (which allow you to return to the dungeon entrance upon death).
The economic system has also changed. Glimpse and Tar Cores are no longer limited resources, allowing you to upgrade all Shells and Tar Stones in a single playthrough. Also introduced is Messer’s Disconnect, an object that allows you to reassign the shell: by giving it to Zirelle, the player can break the link to the shell, returning it to its original state and restoring all invested glances.

In platform-specific changes, the game now supports Switch Pro and Switch Pro 2 controllers, as well as the ability to change button icons.
