In an interview with Polygon, Playground Games Assistant Game Directors Will Kennedy and Craig Littler revealed details about the timing of the Fable reboot. The developers decided not to exaggerate the plot through artificial polish, instead focusing on the density of events and signature elements of life simulators. It takes 15 to 20 hours to complete the story campaign, with the side missions and activities taking the same amount of time.
At the same time, the developers stress that 30-40 hours is only an estimate of how long it will take to complete targeted content. There are no strict time limits in the game thanks to the well-developed social mechanics: buy real estate, create a home, interact with residents and develop your business. As Craig Littler points out, Fable can be played “truly endlessly” thanks to the sandbox and variability of moral choices.
