The Pokémon Company has announced a new animated movie based on the Pokémon universe called Pokémon: Wild Cards . The film will premiere in 2027 and the animation will be produced by CloverWorks Studio.
The film is directed by Katsuhiko Kitada (director of “First Slam Dunk” and animation director of “Attack on Titan”). Character design by Lin Mingmei (Lazarus). The video is produced by Story Inc.
The Pokémon Company announced the movie at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco.

This film is the 24th animated film in the series and the first after “Pokémon: Secret of the Jungle” (“Pokemon Koko the Movie”), which was released in Japan in December 2020.
