Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster “The Odyssey” ranked first at the Korean box office over the weekend of August 28-30, accounting for 65% of all movie revenue, firmly establishing itself as the second-biggest hit of the summer. In three days, the film took in $8.7 million, taking the U.S. box office to $71.7 million. The net result was a cost of $1.55 billion worldwide.
Superhero blockbuster “Spider-Man: Another Day” remained in second place in its fifth weekend, with box office receipts of $1.9 million and 250,442 moviegoers. The film accounted for 14.4% of the weekend market share, grossing 8,548,400 domestic ticket sales and $65 million. “Spider-Man” grossed more than $2.33 billion, ranking among the top three highest-grossing movies in history.
The third place went to the TV series “Journey to Gyeongju”, which earned US$912,000 over the weekend. Fourth place went to the movie “The End of Oak Street,” which grossed $476,000.
