Microsoft is asking users to ignore warnings that Defender Antivirus is deactivated that started appearing after installing the latest update. Although users of the Windows Insider program in the Release Preview ring encountered the issue back in June, Microsoft seems to have only now noticed it, writes Computer beeps.

This issue occurs on all supported Windows client and server platform versions. “After installing the latest update to Microsoft Defender antivirus software, you may receive a notification that your antivirus software is deactivated, even though it is working fine and all settings show it is active,” – Microsoft warning.

“These notifications may appear when Windows starts and periodically thereafter. They remain even if notification settings are turned off.” The company added that it is working on a fix and will release it in a future Microsoft Defender antivirus update.

This is not the first time Microsoft has told users to ignore incorrect warnings and errors that appear on their systems after installing updates.

In April, the company identified and fixed a bug that caused error 0x80070643 after installing the April 2025 Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) update. It also fixed an issue that caused BitLocker drive encryption errors on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices.

In July 2025, Microsoft asked users to ignore erroneous Windows Firewall warnings that appeared after installing the June 2025 operating system update. A month later, the company reported that the July 2025 system update and the subsequent Windows 11 24H2 update caused the CertificateServicesClient (CertEnroll) error.

If you find an error, select it with your mouse and press CTRL+ENTER.
