CD Projekt RED has released a 12-minute demo of Ballads of the Past, the third add-on for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Samples were shown to Gamescom visitors, and the release contains no serious plot spoilers.
The events in “Song of the Past” will unfold after “Blood and Wine”, when Geralt has enjoyed the peace he deserves. However, the witcher will have to take up the sword again – this time for his close friend Dandelion. Heroes will travel to Leten, the scale of which the developers compare to Toussaint.
In the film, you can see Dandelion’s home and the eerie thorn garden, where Geralt must investigate the legend of the ancient Leitenhof family. The area is also home to new monsters. One of them is a swarming wasp, protecting itself with the help of a swarm of wasps.
To fight some monsters, you’ll need a new weapon – a chain. She has already appeared in the first The Witcher and in the opening scene of the story “The Last Wish”, in which Geralt fights Striga. Additionally, chains allow you to attack your opponent’s weaknesses and break through their defenses more effectively.
Song of the Past will be released in 2027 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. The remake of “The Witcher 3” is also expected to be released on September 29.
