Japanese equipment manufacturer TVS REGZA reviewed telemetry data from more than 620,000 smart TVs in the summer of 2026 and identified the most loyal viewers of the popular isekai anime genre.
Recent analysis shows record demand among mature men for stories about moving to other worlds. Eleven of the twelve most popular television programs among the fifty- to sixty-four-year-old age group are fantasy and isekai. Experts have documented similar type preferences among men aged thirty-five to forty-nine.
Experts attribute such a strong affinity for the genre to the pursuit of reliable escapism, a chance to relax after get off work, and a predictable, positive story.
