MMORPG Camelot Unchained roadmap announces fall plans

The developers of Early Access MMORPG Camelot Unchained have revealed their fall roadmap and discussed their priorities for the coming months. The team plans to focus on developing PvP in the RvR format, improving the combat system, and further expanding character progression. Internal testing of the siege mechanic will begin in September, with players able to join later.

The developers’ main goal was to create more reasons to engage in territorial battles on a regular basis. Currently the maximum level limit for characters is 10, but this standard will be increased in the future. After reaching level 10, players will have to leave the safety of their kingdom and participate in the conquest of disputed territory in order to continue developing. To progress further, you’ll be able to earn bonuses and character customization points that affect your play style and effectiveness in combat.

The team has also prepared some changes specifically for combat. Upcoming updates will include a more detailed combat log, responsive character controls, and an improved ability queue system. This should address some of the issues players have been pointing out since the game entered Early Access.

In the fall, the author will continue to add new professions and gameplay, and improve the environment and performance. The plan still includes the development of the king system, new world objectives, siege weapons, and random events that provide rewards for participants. Craftsmanship and the kingdom’s control of disputed territory will be of great concern.

The first test of the siege system is scheduled for September. The team will first test one or two siege engines and a set of attackable gates. If the internal test is successful, regular players will also be included. In the future, the system should receive destructible wall elements and additional siege weapons. The developers have clarified that the technology that previously destroyed objects from CUBE is not used in the new siege system. The mechanics are being restructured, so its development will happen gradually.

The published roadmap also outlines upcoming changes. Over the summer, the developers planned new combat non-player characters, loot from them, a new system for developing abilities, redesigned lighting, initial missions, and improved water effects. In the fall, maximum character level increases, a new archetype for the Scout class, crafting skill specializations, improvements to item crafting quality, a friend and player ban system, sound updates, a new siege system, and additional kingdom levels will all be announced.
