The iconic sci-fi strategy series “StarCraft” has been in limbo for more than a decade, and “StarCraft 3” still hasn’t come out. At least that’s the case for Blizzard Entertainment.

South Korean newspaper North Korea quoted high-level gaming industry sources as saying Reportlocal publisher and developer Nexon (The Finals, Arc Raiders) is preparing to sign a new deal with Blizzard for StarCraft.
It was previously reported that Nexon has picked up an ambitious StarCraft shooter, which should “Shaking up the international video game market”. Now the company is said to have its sights on a major franchise.
According to Chosun, the new agreement will give Nexon development rights “The sequel to the existing StarCraft”. Since the latest numbered game in the series is still “StarCraft 2”, we are talking about “StarCraft 3”.
StarCraft is still very popular in South Korea. As Chosun highlighted, if Nexon releases StarCraft 3 with Korean audiences in mind, the game could reach “Magnificent” success.
Although nearly 11 years have passed since the completion of the “StarCraft 2” trilogy, Blizzard is still continuing to improve the game. Last summer, the company surprised fans when it updated its balance sheet for the first time in years.
Meanwhile, Blizzard is rumored to be preparing a third-person shooter based on the series. According to Windows Central, the project is expected to be showcased at the BlizzCon 2026 carnival on September 12th and 13th.
