Publisher Square Enix Holdings has officially denied news from Japanese magazine Sentaku that the company may exit the stock exchange and become a private company. Representatives of the holding company stressed that the situation had never been discussed within the organization.
Rumors about the delisting appeared in the September issue of the publication, which analyzed foreign funding interest. Amid the speculation, the company’s shares rose nearly 7% to close at 3,161 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Previously, Singaporean investment fund 3D Investment Partners increased its stake in Square Enix to 18.53%, but the issuer’s official statement did not include data on plans to repurchase securities or terminate its free trading.
