
The fourth film adaptation of Resident Evil, this time a side story from Resident Evil 2 adapted for today’s circumstances, is also shown at the State of Play: fans are invited to watch clips from the film. Audiences will watch the new version of “Resident Evil” on September 18, 2026.
Starring Austin Abrams (“The Walking Dead,” “The Walking Dead”) remembers filming the scene vividly: Earlier, horror film director Zach Craig (“The Wild,” “The Wild One”) shared a behind-the-scenes story and said it almost ended in death for the actor.
The director preferred practical effects to computer graphics, so a crane was used to drop 68kg, human-sized bags of blood from a height. One of them was accidentally thrown early, with the prop missing Abrams by inches.
