The Steam platform is heading toward an all-time high, with total annual revenue likely to exceed $20 billion for the first time in history. According to a report by Rhys Elliott, principal analyst at Alinea Analytics, the service has raised $15 billion in the first eight months of 2026, a 15% increase from last year.
Among the main growth drivers, analysts highlighted several major games: The leader among new IP games was Crimson Desert, which generated approximately $203.3 million in revenue on the platform, accounting for approximately 18% of the revenue of the top 100 new IPs. Other major financial successes include Forza Horizon 6 ($210.5 million) and Resident Evil Requiem ($200.9 million). New project “Meccha Chameleon” also made the top six with $89.8 million. Meanwhile, the majority of the platform’s revenue comes from proven hits like Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 4, and Lost Ark, as well as strong mid-budget titles.
