Sam Altman, head and co-founder of OpenAI, the startup that created ChatGPT, admitted in an interview with Bloomberg TV that the AI industry has not done a good enough job of communicating to the public all the benefits promised by the spread of AI.

The CEO of OpenAI is convinced that this is precisely the reason for the social protests associated with the introduction of artificial intelligence and the construction of new data centers. “I think the industry as a whole is doing a terrible job at this. I think we ourselves are doing a terrible job at it, maybe a little better than others, or a little worse,” – Ultraman expressed his dissatisfaction, TV channel Bloomberg TV.
U.S. tech giants have had to deal with growing public dissatisfaction with the rapid construction of new data centers. According to Data Center Watch, in the first three months of this year, at least 75 such facility construction projects worth a total of $130 billion were shelved or delayed due to local public pressure, and about the same number of data centers suffered a similar fate in terms of funding throughout last year.
The head of OpenAI firmly believes that the AI industry has done little to explain how new technologies will promote creativity and entrepreneurship: “It’s very, very important to us that this technology gives people more power and more autonomy, not less. I think people have reason to be scared when they feel that AI leaders don’t exactly want them to have this technology.”.
OpenAI president Greg Brockman recently said that the company’s recently launched Astra AI model will one day be considered the first manifestation of so-called “strong” artificial intelligence (AGI), which approaches or exceeds human capabilities on many tasks.
