Development studio Digital Extremes is using Seoul’s Korean community event TennoVIP to put on a fireworks display to showcase the announcement of the Warframe sci-fi universe. As announced by the team during a special developer livestream, the next major content update, Narin Ice Blade, will be released for free on all platforms on September 23, 2026. The update not only introduces Narin as the 66th playable Warframe, but also brings a new Squad Mission mode for six players, revised class mechanics, and Citrine Prime Access. The studio is also preparing for players, planning to launch the “Warframe: Tau” expansion pack at the end of this year, and will start holding the limited-time world event “Operation New Era: Taubound” on October 15.
With the Narin Ice Blade update, you will return to the wreckage of the Zariman and uncover Narin’s story. The first female ice armor, the Warrior relies on a combination of swords, ice magic, and powerful area control. Equipped with the bow weapon Nunchasa and the twin ice pistols Aksondol, she brings a breath of fresh air to the arsenal.
At the same time, the geographical pattern of the solar system is changing: a new relay hub “Nalin Peak” is being built on the summit of Youwan Peak. If this node is turned on, the Earth will rotate on the star map and reveal the previously hidden side of the Earth.
Digital Extremes also dares to try new directions. Glacier Rebellion mode introduces for the first time group battles for up to six players on a familiar level structure. After successfully completing a difficult challenge, you’ll be transported to Cephalon Melika’s laboratory to claim your reward. There, players will encounter new “Entropic Eximus” enemies, which drop valuable Entropic Kuva. This can then be redeemed for themed merchandise.
In order to arouse people’s expectations for the Tau system, the global content event “Epoch Operations: Taubound” will be launched on October 15. In this story-related chapter, an entire community gathers the resource “lunar meat” on Eris to produce fuel for a journey to an alien system. Old players can unlock Lotus’ lost memories through the prologue to Tau mini-quests, while newcomers can join directly after the prologue and receive event rewards.
The set will overhaul Warframe Banshee on September 23rd, including gifts for those who logged in before October 7th, new deluxe skim sets for Banshee and Qorvex, and fresh TennoGen cosmetics from the community.
