An immersive third-person modified version of the role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 has been released, adding a full third-person perspective while maintaining the familiar mechanics of the original game. Unlike the unnatural animations and other problems encountered in previous attempts to implement this type of camera, the new modification offers new animations, free camera settings and automatic perspective switching. You can download the works through the website Nexus module.
Immersive Third Person is a mod from user CybrDrake that allows you to freely switch between first and third person while playing on foot. The author redesigned most of the animations for the female version of V from scratch, while the male characters have mostly undergone minor modifications so far. Therefore, developers currently recommend choosing female characters to play the game.
What’s special about the modification is that the animations from the two perspectives are completely separate. Switching back to first-person does not change Cyberpunk 2077’s original animations, so players can return to standard view at any time. Third person features independent animations including idle, walking, running, jumping, landing, climbing stairs and ledges, swimming, gliding, sprinting, and picking up items.
The camera can now rotate freely around the character, collide with walls, and adjust distance smoothly. You can save up to five camera profiles. The developers also added automatic perspective changes. The game automatically switches to first person during combat, driving, cutscenes, using terminals, and other scenes that require first person, and returns to the player-selected view when the situation is over.
Camera and perspective behavior settings can be configured through CET (Network Engine Tuning) and the modification menu. The game will also remember the selected perspective across restarts. Other features include camera assist when collecting loot, adjusting the character’s head rotation when idle, and adjusting camera movement.
This modification is still under development, so the author warns of possible errors. In particular, a crash may occur when loading a save for the first time. In this case, it is recommended to restart the game and reload the save file. The developers also recommend starting a new game for the most consistent experience.
Immersive third person requires Cyberpunk 2077 as well as the Phantom Liberty expansion pack and a set of modifications RED4ext, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware and Cyber Engine Tweaks. The native settings UI is required to access the individual third-party settings tabs.
In the mod’s description, the author hints that animations from other games were used in the creation process, but does not list an exact list. However, users have noticed that most of the animations for the female characters are taken from Starblade.
