intra-studio alliance Xbox Podcast New details about the story campaign revealed. It has previously been made available to journalists for preview testing, but in the form of a very limited demo version. Now, the developers themselves have shared information about what awaits players. Podcast Highlights:
- The campaign will feature the first encounter with each type of Locust. The developers stress that every type of enemy for the protagonist in the campaign is new and they will have to find individual ways to deal with them.
- In the story campaign, you’ll be able to see the events that happened “before”, “during” and “after” the day of the invasion. The developers wanted to show not only the moments of the disaster itself, but also the world before it happened and what happened after the first attack.
- The city of Calona will actually be a separate character in the game. The Alliance has built it into a full-fledged living city so that players can get a feel for what it was like before the invasion day began. As you progress, buildings and familiar places will be destroyed and the fate of the inhabitants will change.
- There will be optional activities at the event. The plot of the game itself is linear, but between the main missions, players will have access to small areas of Charon where they can explore further and participate in optional events. For example, there you can meet trapped soldiers or families. Helping them is not necessary, but for doing so you can get various rewards and better understand the plot.
- Weapon modifications will appear in the campaign for the first time. The developers have confirmed that some elements that were previously only available in multiplayer will become available upon completing the story.
- In this part of the series, the Locust becomes smarter. Opponents can use the same abilities as the player. For example, if the hero climbs into a truck, enemies can do the same to flank him.
- Increasing the difficulty will turn combat into a tactical puzzle. According to the developers, in higher difficulty levels, it’s not enough for players to simply shoot enemies faster. It is necessary to analyze the position of cover, weapons, enemies and available options.
- The developers created the sounds completely from scratch. According to The Coalition, all sounds have been created from scratch, and the developers are particularly excited to see how players in the beta have started paying attention to this themselves.
Gears of War: E-Day will be released on October 6th on Xbox Series X | S and PC, as well as Game Pass.
