2K and Firaxis Games have announced three new pieces of content for the 4X strategy Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. Back in September, the strategy will receive the 1.5.0 update, which will include the long-awaited map of Earth and the starting locations of its people based on its true origins. In 2027, Arknights will receive a major free update, introducing a new atomic age, as well as its first paid expansion, Earthrise, dedicated to the exploration of the solar system and the space race.

Civilization VII will be the first to receive the 1.5.0 update, scheduled for release in September 2026. Its main innovation will be the long-awaited map of the Earth, with realistic outlines of continents, natural objects and resources. Each civilization’s starting location will correspond to its historically generated territory. Natural wonders are placed in place differently each time you play the game, so even familiar maps won’t be exactly the same.

The developers will also change the Terra Incognita and Shuffle maps to use the Voronoi algorithm to improve their generation. Creating and loading maps will be faster, and resource placement will be more diverse. These changes will also affect diplomacy. Players will be able to use influence to maintain alliances with other nations, rather than engaging in wars started by their allies.

This interface will receive additional changes. The game will feature new tile prompts, an updated settlement information panel, and new and improved game customization features. Developers will also add a ruler to measure distances and plan the layout of the city.

The next major release will be a free update for Arknights, due out in 2027. It will add a fourth historical era, covering the period from roughly the 1950s to the 2050s. The game will feature new buildings, military units, visuals, technologies, institutions, achievements, civilizations, and leaders. Mahatma Gandhi will be one of the returning leaders.

Nuclear strategy will receive great attention. There will be new offensive and defensive capabilities, as well as additional military units. The authors intend to expand the regime of mutually assured destruction and increase the collective ability to respond to growing nuclear arsenals, including negotiations for disarmament or further escalation.

Empire management will also become more flexible. Players will be able to transform their settlements into city-states to better control the size of their country and resolve loyalty issues. The city-states themselves will have additional interaction options, including the ability to wage proxy wars.

Another innovation will be the cinematography. The film crew will look for suitable filming locations based on the chosen genre, and the quality of the film will determine the benefits achieved. A new system will emerge in production for creating industrial goods. Players will be able to combine certain types of ingredients using special recipes and gain access to powerful new resources, including enriched uranium.

Firaxis Games will test Arknights content through a special workshop where players will be able to try out new features and provide feedback to the developers.

The first paid expansion pack for “Civilization VII” is called “Earthrise” and will also be released in 2027. It will focus on the space race, exploration of the solar system, and civilization’s adaptation to environmental changes. An exact release date for the add-on has yet to be announced.

In ancient times and the Age of Discovery, players will be able to observe the night sky, draw celestial maps, and gradually expand their knowledge of the solar system. In the modern era, it will be possible to launch the first orbital missions around the Earth and the Moon. In the atomic age, civilizations would be able to create their own space agencies and send expeditions throughout the solar system. Planetary exploration will make it possible to discover new characteristics of celestial bodies and previously unknown resources, which can then be used for the development of earth civilization.

The expansion will also add new ways to interact with the environment. Unit abilities and technologies will allow you to change terrain characteristics and cell bonuses. Engineered structures will help combat the increasing frequency of natural disasters during global warming, and some opportunities will provide opportunities to reverse rising temperatures. The better a civilization develops certain natural areas, the greater the advantages it gains when working with those natural areas.
