Developers at Atlus are rethinking the integration of Marie in the remake of the hit JRPG Persona 4: Resurrection. A character originally added in Persona 4 Gold Deluxe Edition for PS Vita. Speaking to GamesRadar+ at Gamescom 2026, series producer Kazuhisa Wada said that in the new version, her presence in the narrative will not look like an artificial insertion.
In the original PS Vita version, Mary had to be inserted verbatim into the existing script. Because of this, her appearance is intentionally striking, while she herself seems isolated from events until the player purposefully strengthens her social connections to reach the true ending.
In Persona 4 Resurrection, the plot is recreated based on her role in the overall story. According to Wada, the writers made sure that Mary was an organic presence in the narrative from the beginning, receiving more scenes interacting with other members of the investigation team and not being treated as an alien element to the Velvet Room.
Persona 4: Resurgence is scheduled to be released on February 18, 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
