Prior to the release of the foldable iPhone Ultra, Huawei launched the tri-fold smartphone Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design, which is equipped with a new Kirin 9050 Pro processor. Unlike previous outward-folding models, the Mate XT 2 features a new inner-folding design that protects the display when not in use.

When turned on, the Mate XT 2’s internal LTPO OLED display measures 10.2 inches. The screen supports 3K resolution, 1-120Hz adaptive update rate, and high-frequency PWM brightness control. When closed, users can access an external 6.5-inch screen. Supports 2442×1140 pixel resolution, peak brightness 6500cd/m22. There is a wide cutout at the top of the display for the selfie camera and facial recognition sensor. The screen comes with a reflective coating to provide better viewing angles.
When fully open, the Mate XT 2 is only 3.5mm thick. The device weighs 299 grams, making it the lightest three-piece smartphone. The device is designed with IP58 and IP59 protection ratings against dust and splash water.
Huawei has improved the hinge mechanism in the new product to maintain a slim design and ensure smooth opening and closing. Mate XT 2 will offer a unique rear panel design for a premium look and feel. The large octagonal camera bump remains unchanged.
One of the features of Huawei Mate XT 2 is screen privacy technology, which allows you to interact with the device in public places without worrying about the security of the information displayed on the screen. This is the first time this technology has been used in a foldable smartphone. Privacy screen is only available on one device configuration. More on this below.
The Huawei Mate XT 2 is equipped with four cameras, including a 500,000-pixel main camera with a 1/1.28-inch variable aperture sensor, optical image stabilization (OIS), and a RYYB filter array. The device is also equipped with a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 50-megapixel periscope camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The fourth sensor is a multispectral camera with accurate color rendering, giving your photos realistic, vivid colors. Additionally, the device features an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the external and internal displays with a face unlock sensor.
Huawei Mate XT 2 becomes the first smartphone to be equipped with the Kirin 9050 Pro processor based on the new Logic Folding architecture. The chip’s average efficiency is 42% higher than its predecessor, the Kirin 9030 Pro.
Mate XT 2 is equipped with a 5600mAh battery that supports 66W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The device runs the HarmonyOS 7 operating system and supports multi-tasking, AI content generation, and built-in Celia AI assistant. It also claims to integrate artificial intelligence agents to provide faster access to core functions in the HarmonyOS intelligent architecture.
Huawei Mate XT 2 comes with 16 GB RAM in all configurations. The manufacturer estimates the device to be 19,999 yuan (approximately $2,979) for the version with 256 GB of permanent memory, 21,999 yuan (approximately $3,277) for the version with 512 GB of permanent memory, and 23,999 yuan (approximately $3,575) for the version with 1 TB of permanent memory. The version with 1 TB of permanent memory and a display with privacy features is priced at 24,999 yuan (approximately $3,724). A collector’s edition of the smartphone with 2 TB of permanent memory will also be available, priced at 29,999 yuan (approximately $4,469).
