Blood of the Dawn Treader is off to a strong start, with Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves reporting that it sold 1 million copies in just 48 hours. The results are especially impressive for a young studio and the first big game in a brand new series.
The role-playing game releases on September 3 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. Players control Cohen, a man by day and a vampire by night, who must save his family in the darkness of 14th-century Europe. One of the main features is the time system: only 30 game days are allotted to complete the story.
Success at the beginning also increases the chances of continuing. Rebel Wolf has talked about plans to make Dawn Treader a full-fledged saga that will span different eras, continents and cultures, with each part having its own story. Exactly when the next game will appear and where its events will unfold remains unknown.
The studio is led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the former director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developer has yet to reveal further update plans for Blood of the Dawn Treader or when work will begin on the next installment in the series.
