Publisher Capcom is happy with a major 2026 launch. The company released Onimusha: Kendo late last week, the first new game in the series in 20 years. But the “abandonment” of the series did not prevent the new installment from showing good sales, with the developers reporting that more than 1 million copies were sold on the day of release.
exist Report Capcom confirmed that they had a good marketing campaign ahead of Onimusha: Kendo’s release – releasing a demo of the project and showing it off multiple times at major shows. This paid off and allowed us to capture the attention of our audience for the series. The publisher also noted that total sales of the Onimusha series have now exceeded 10 million copies.
Please note that “Onimusha: Kendo” became Capcom’s third game this year, and sales quickly exceeded the 1 million copy mark. Previously, the publisher noted the success of other new products this year:
At present, the total sales of “Pragmata” have exceeded 2.5 million copies, and “Requiem for Resident Evil” has exceeded 8 million copies.
