In Russia, the nature of access restrictions to the artificial intelligence ChatGPT has changed. If the previous blocking was on the service itself – a foreign server logged a Russian IP address and returned an access error, now the connection is forcibly terminated at home.
Testing has shown that when establishing a secure TLS connection to the chatgpt.com domain, network devices drop packets during the transmission of the website name. Meanwhile, service subdomains (such as api.chatgpt.com or auth.openai.com) and other resources continue to operate normally. Due to this filtering mechanism based on the public name of the website, popular bypass methods such as changing DNS servers have lost their effectiveness.
