Although Onimusha: Path of the Sword is powered by the RE Engine, Capcom’s presets limit ray tracing to reflections, resulting in many areas of the image being flat. The modder corrected this omission by releasing a graphics modification that unlocked the engine’s hidden potential and enabled fair global illumination and background shading.

This modification activates the calculation of global illumination and shading. Thanks to physically correct light reflections, scenes get rid of the “plastic” look of raster graphics, and characters and objects no longer hang in the air. This mod allows you to bypass the standard limitations of in-game menus: you can increase the internal resolution of ray tracing, improve highlight quality, and fine-tune noise reduction, shadows, and screen space effects.
