Star Nicolas Cage has commented on streaming service Prime Video’s decision to refuse to renew superhero series Spider-Man for a second season. The actor said he felt the ending was an absolutely harmonious completion of a unique story in the Pop Art style.
Launching in the spring of 2026, the program has received high praise from critics (92% on Rotten Tomatoes) and was nominated for 11 Emmy Awards. Season 1 was originally conceived as a complete work with minimal unfinished storylines, allowing the writers to fully realize their creative vision. The reason for the closure was most likely high production costs and low ratings.
Despite the show ending, Cage continues to work with Amazon. The film will be released on November 18 MaddenThe actor plays legendary coach and commentator John Madden.
