Typically, games are removed from Game Pass around the middle and end of the month. But there are exceptions for some projects. Microsoft has removed NBA 2K26 from Game Pass today (September 7), having added the game to the subscription in April this year, meaning it has only been on the service for five months.
As analysts have previously pointed out, “NBA 2K26” has become one of the most successful new Game Pass games in 2026. As of mid-June 2026, analysts estimate that more than 1.4 million Xbox users have played “NBA 2K26” through subscription. The top 6 games subscribed to Game Pass at that time were as follows:
- Forza Horizon 6
- Deep Sea Battle 2
- Escape the secret room
- NBA 2K26
- Peak of life 2
- Cyberpunk 2077
Please note that Cyberpunk 2077 will also soon be discontinued for Gmae Pass subscriptions – the project will be removed from the service on September 15th.
NBA 2K26 was removed almost simultaneously with the release of NBA 2K27 – the game was released a few days earlier.
