Digital Extremes has released a trailer and details for the next major Soulframe pre-beta update, Preludes 16, called Of Hook & Hound, which will be released in mid-September.
The main highlight is the binding system of the young wolf. After completing the “Trapped She-Wolf” story, players will be able to own a wolf pup and raise it while participating in various activities on the island. The puppy’s behavior directly depends on your behavior: if you often take it to fight, you will get a loyal watchdog; if you often take it to fight, you will get a loyal watchdog; if you like treasure hunting, find a companion with search skills; if you play with it more and take care of it more, it will become a lovely pet that supports you. In the future, the puppies will grow up and become mature mounts.
Closely related to the pup system is a new fishing mechanic. Fishing can be done in local waters using a variety of baits. Once caught, you can release it back or take it to Nightfold and cook food for your puppy.
The update will also provide dynamic weather features, which will make the game world more lively. After rain, the growth of plants and natural resources increases, and during thunderstorms, the power of voltaic energy increases.
In addition, the developers will also improve the Tempers system: weapons can now be disassembled to extract modifiers and apply them to legendary equipment through the blacksmith. Combat is also expected to change, with new equipment – a two-handed mace, a caster staff, a sword as a secondary weapon, and a witch cosmetic set.
